Jasons Smart Business Award (HAPNZ 2015)

Taupo DeBretts have taken home the 2015 Jasons SMART Business Award. This was announced at the Holiday Parks Association of NZ (HAPNZ) Conference in Auckland.

The Jasons SMART Business Award credits a range of developments and improvements, including:

• A new deep geothermal bore, with water drawn to the surface at a scalding ‘85 degrees Celsius. Cooling measures are undertaken to make it suitable for bathing.
• Installed three double-sided titanium plate heat exchangers including: Water heating transferred through 2.9 km of underground piping to over 80 convection radiators throughout our accommodation complex and Living Waters Spa, Underfloor heating to our pool complex, changing and bathroom facilities. Consistent bathing temperature in our geothermally, heated fresh-water pools, outdoor spas, zero depth hot water playground, and 3 hydro slides. Hot water for two commercial laundry units. Hot water for 48% of our motel & chalet accommodation, main reception and office facilities & hot water reticulation to an additional yet to be connected, family accommodation units & Holiday Park facilities block.

"Natural geothermal energy in our region has given us significant savings on electrical, gas heating and reticulation costs as well as a better customer experience. The Hilton is now able to shut off gas and electrical heating. This is not only a fantastic financial result, the environmental benefits are outstanding," Holiday Director Barry Kirkland said.
