CRATERS CLASSIC MTB 2018

Bike Taupo are the event managers for this exciting event in 2018. All proceeds from this event will go back into track development in Taupo, benefitting hundreds of riders both local and nationally. The Craters Classic event has been run in Taupo by the Taupo Mountain Bike Club for over 30 years. This event has a lot of history. We have been fortunate to have this event run over the last three years from the popular Wairakei Resort which offers riders the opportunity to stay on site. The venue also offers a great start/finish line with a fabulous event village atmosphere. The event has grown every year with this concept and attracted 650 riders last year. 

We believe riders will appreciate their entry fee being put back into the community for the growth of mountain biking. The event has been re-branded and we intend to create a fun and exciting experience for our participants catering for families to the hard core racer. Taupo showcases old school XC single track racing on a free draining pumice surface. We can just about guarantee no mud which is a big bonus for winter riding. 

You will need a place to stay and prepare yourself for this  event, be sure to book accommodation with us. 

After the event, you will need a place to relax. Even if you already live in Taupo, you will be aching for a long, hot soak in our mineral waters.

We recommend booking in for a massage at our Living Waters Spa, our massage therapists will be booked out very quickly, soothing the aches and pains away.
