Gold Winning Bands Perform in Taupo

At the recent Hawke’s Bay Festival of Bands, both the Lindisfarne College Jazz Band and Symphonic Band received Gold awards, as well as numerous Gold and Silver awards going to soloists. Both bands, and the Lindisfarne College Pipe Band will perform in a showcase concert at the Great Lake Centre on Friday 2nd July. The jazz band will play a range of unique jazz music arrangements that feature improvisation solos by band members. The symphonic band enjoys contrasting styles of music, including the more traditional Dorchester March and the toe-tapping good time of the Bee-Gees medley, aptly named Stayin’ Alive! Music from Lindisfarne College would not be complete without the Pipe Band’s nod to Scottish tradition and flair – the pipes and drums of the College encapsulate the school’s heritage excellently. There will be other performers and pieces to be enjoyed at the concert on the day. So come a long for a great hour of music by the young musicians of tomorrow!
