Work to ensure a warmer - and greener - winter for guests at Taupo DeBretts is nearing completion.
A major environmental project will see the spa resort using renewable geothermal energy to heat all of its accommodationunits and facilities, greeting reducing the need for electricity and gas.
Phase One of the project is set to go live over the next few days, with the chalets the first to be switched over to geothermal heating.
Taupo DeBretts owner Barry Kirkland says it's a significant move to reduce their carbon footprint and part of ongoing efforts to improve environmental outcomes.
