Nineteen staff members of Taupo DeBretts had an onsite fire extinguisher training course this week.
Instructors from Firewatch gave a two-hour lecture about how to suppress fire through cooling, smothering and removal of fuel, what types of extinguishers to use for different types of fire and provide strategies for dealing with a fire. A practice session was also provided as part of the training, offering every attendee the task of putting out a real fire.
Fire extinguisher training is a part of Taupo DeBretts health and safety training, educating staff members to recognise and take action to extinguish the fire as well as to react properly to fire extinguisher handling.
